Because they are a fixed, permanent solution, dental implants are the ultimate way to replace missing teeth. Implants also offer superior support and stability for dental appliances such as bridges and partial dentures. At the office of Washington Dental Care, we offer traditional endosteal implants, as well as All-on-4 Implants and Teeth-in-a-Day Implants.
Dental implants are a prosthetic tooth root made of titanium. They are surgically placed into the lower or upper jaw bone where they fuse and become a part of your dental structure. Artificial teeth are then attached to the implants, providing a secure, comfortable, natural-looking and perfectly functioning smile.
Benefits of getting dental implants:
- Resolve joint pain or bite issues caused by teeth shifting into missing tooth space
- Replace one or several missing teeth without affecting adjacent teeth
- Restore chewing, speech, and digestion
- Restore a patient’s confident smile
- Support a denture or bridge, making them more comfortable and secure
- Enhance facial tissues and help in maintaining facial shape
The procedure of getting implants begins with taking impressions and images of the jaw bone and teeth to determine gum tissue, bone, and spacing available for the implant. We use Cone Beam CT to obtain 3-D images allowing for optimal treatment planning. The actual placement of the implant is done under the effect of anesthesia. The implant fixture is surgically placed into the bone. With some types of implants, it is then allowed to heal and fuse into the bone for up to six months before prosthetic teeth are attached. When using All-on-4/Teeth-in-a-Day implants, replacement teeth can be attached the same day.
All-on-4 and Teeth-in-a-Day Implants
The All-On-4 concept uses precisely placed implants, so only four implants are needed to replace a full arch of teeth. The All-on-4 concept is cost-efficient and provides patients with a fixed, full-arch of teeth in one day!
